United Nations Non-Governmental Liaison Service
The United Nations Non-Governmental Liaison Service (NGLS) is a
jointly financed, interagency unit supported by 16 UN system agencies,
programs and departments and a number of bilateral sponsors. Its
aim is to foster and promote greater mutual understanding, dialogue

NGLS has a broad information outreach and publications program which

CONGO: The Conference of NGOs
The Conference of NGOs in Consultative Relationship to the Economic
and Social Council of the United Nations (CONGO) assists the various
non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that have consultative status
at the United Nations. It works on behalf of NGOs to develop that
status and to improve their relationship and cooperation with the
United Nations. CONGO does not take positions on substantive matters,
but its NGO Committees provide fora for discussion of the range
of issues under debate at the United Nations. There are currently
NGO Committees on aging, disarmament, human rights, narcotics, shelter
and community, Indigenous peoples, the status of women, and other
topics. The Conference also organizes NGO events related to major
United Nations Conferences such as at the Social Development Conference
in Copenhagen or the World Conference on Women in Beijing.

Mandat International - Welcome Center for NGOs and Delegations
The Welcome Center for Non-Governmental Organizations and Delegations
aims to encourage the participation of non-governmental delegates
at international conferences held in Geneva and to create a place
of meeting and exchange between delegates of different geographical
regions. The center helps inform delegates about conferences in
Geneva, and procedures for participation. It offers support and
advice in public international law, and it can provide affordable
lodging for up to 30 people. Priority is given to delegates coming
from the Least Developed Countries (LDC's). The center is housed
in the former home of William Rappard, who helped shape Geneva's
role as an international center.
