Access to this
point is by a stile beside a gate at a sharp corner of the road.
There is parking 50 meters from the gate on the Lahinch side. A
short walk across a field brings you to a rocky outcrop with deep
channels and gullies. Bottom fishing on rough ground for conger
and rockling using mackerel bait is best. Also float fishing for
wrasse using lugworm and crab and spinning for mackerel and
pollack. The venue is not suitable in rough or heavy swell
conditions. It produces the best results at high water.
Bait
Seafield Pier is
the nearest location to obtain bait. It lies about 2.5 kms west
of Quilty. There is plenty of parking spaces in this area and
access is easy. Bait digging for lugworm and some small ragworm
is 150 meters to the left of the pier. Low water and the first
2.5 hours of the flood tide is the ideal time.

Contribution: I have fished from here every
summer for the last 15 - 18 years. The catch is very variable - some
years 30 minutes yielded 15-20 fish - mostly Mackerel - other years you
could fish for 3 hours and come away empty handed. The view is one of
the best I have come across on the west coast. The tide can trap you on
the island and so needs careful watching - refer to the local fishermen
for guidance.
ANGLING REGULATIONS
BASS
It is prohibited to take and kill more than two bass on any one day.
(Bye-law No.667)
· Minimum overall size limit of 40cm. From tip of snout to end of
tail. Closed season from 15th May to 15th June.
Note: Penalties for breach of the
above laws include confiscation of tackle and heavy fines.
