It's possible to experience cultures from around the world without having to leave the Bay Area, including the Russian culture. But not long ago, we had the chance to visit a piece of Old Russia that is wild and remote and until just a short time ago, was off limits to virtually everyone.

"I just feel privileged to be able to see this. It's as unspoiled as it gets for fisherman", says one visitor to Kamchatka. The Zhupanova River flows for about 120 miles from its headwaters...through the wild terrain of Kamchatka, in the Northeastern frontier of Russia.
