How it all Began:
As a bit of history, in late 1998, John Lovelace - producer and host of
Wings Over Canada, approached our facility to edit and produce the show. The
concept was that of a bush pilot who flies around western Canada, visiting
interesting places and people. Wings Over Canada's production was moved to
our Surrey studios. The show continually receives an audience of between 20
and 30 thousand viewers per episode. It also has an extremely large audience
in the Toronto market. These ratings have contributed to the success of the
show being broadcast Canada wide in 1999.
The success of this show convinced us to produce a show close to our
hearts - GOLF! The project has taken form in the "Golf Buddies". The pilot
was shot at Northview and after constant improvement through focus groups,
submitted to Rogers Cable systems for approval. Hundreds of shows are
submitted yearly with only a handful-receiving broadcast. "The Golf Buddies"
was approved for a broadcast with an April 2000 debut. In the months that
followed the show was acquired for broadcast on BCTV, CHEK TV, A-Channel
(Manitoba and Alberta) and ONTV. In late 2000, The Golf Buddies took the first
step into the United States market on AT&T; Channel 3 in Massachusetts.
We gladly welcome them aboard.
Each "Golf Buddies" episode is currently seen by close to 100,000 people.
It is our hope that the show will attract an audience because of the pace
and production values of the show. Great time and effort is put forth into
each episode to bring you a story about our featured course that maybe you
haven't heard before. We try to bring a humorous lighthearted look at the
courses you play, or want to play. We must appeal to the golfer thirsty to
see courses largely ignored to this point.
For the year 2001 you can expect to see us pop up all over Canada and the
United States finding the hidden gems of the golf world.
All we can say is give it a try - if you like it tell as many friends as
possible, and if you don't like it - tell us. The hallmark of the show is to
appeal to the average golfer - and have them involved in the show. Each
episode contains interviews and shots of people we meet at each course.
Enjoy,
Brian Dale Arabsky,
