Adoption
Policy
-
Adopters must be
18 years of age or older.
-
Adopters must have
a veterinarian's reference. If a veterinarian's reference cannot
be provided, SOAR's manager must be allowed to perform a home
inspection.
-
A minimum of a one-day
waiting period on all animal adoptions is required. This is
to ensure that the animal's health and welfare are given carelful
consideration by the potential adopter before adoption. Exceptions
to this rule are to be approved by SOAR's manager.
-
At the time of adoption,
all animals will have a current rabies vaccination and be spayed
or neutered.
-
Adopted animals must
be kept in a fenced-in yard with adequate shelter from the weather,
or kept in the house. Any exceptions to this rule are to be
approved by SOAR's manager.
-
Once adopted, animals
may be returned to SOAR at any time if the adopter decides it
is in his or her best interest or in the best interest of the
animal. Under no circumstances can the animal be placed in any
other shelter or given to anyone without SOAR's knowledge and
consent.
-
If, in SOAR's judgement,
the adopted animal is subject to abuse or mistreatment of any
kind, SOAR may repossess the animal at any time.
-
SOAR reserves the
right to deny any adoptions.
