POLISH MOUNTAINS Warszawa - Rzeszow - Bieszczady - Spisz - Tatra
Mountains - Zakopane - Krakow - (Warsaw)
Though most of the Polish
landscape is low, the Southern regions are quite mountainous, offering the highest
Alpine mountains in Eastern Europe - the Tatra with peaks over 2400 meters
- the best resort to stay is Zakopane (centre of traditional highlander
architecture). From there you are welcome to set out for breathtaking trips to
mountain lochs, dales, icy caves and scenic tracks. Also see the mountains (optionally)
from the Slovak side. Another impressive part of the Carpathian range is Bieszczady
- an unspoilt wilderness second to none in Europe. These smaller rounded scarcely
wooded mountains lie close to the Ukrainian border and are famous for herds of
wild Hucul horces galloping around its valleys. If folklore and wooden architecture
is your hobby, do not miss also Spisz region between the Tatra and Bieszczady
with Slovak community. We can organize a great deal extra for you: roasting mutton,
bonfire, deer and birdspotting, horse riding, an outlaw robbing party, rafting
on the Dunajec River. You will be in contact with experienced English-speaking
mountain guides who will support you during this trip. Warsaw and Krakow
are conveniently located on your route, for contrast nature with civilization.
