Mount Washington, a 25-km (16-mile) drive west of the Comox Valley, is Vancouver Island's year-round alpine destination. Winter activities include downhill and cross country skiing as well as snowboarding and snow tubing. The resort is famous for its 40 kilometers of cross country trails, and downhill skiers have their choice of numerous chairlifts, including the high speed Eagle Express quad, which whisks skiers and snowboarders to the mile-high summit in less than six minutes.
You'll find just about everything you need on the mountain including a restaurant, lounge, shops, equipment rentals, lessons and even a Kid's Zone. Many Comox Valley hotels, motels and resorts offer special ski packages during the winter months.
By Foot:
Great trails, awe-inspiring scenery and plenty of wildlife makes the Comox Valley one of the best hiking spots on Vancouver Island. Whether you prefer to walk along a beach or spend three days hiking to the Comox Glacier, there is a trail for every interest and level of fitness. For a spectacular view of the Valley, ride the chair lift at Mount Washington.

Cyclists in the Comox Valley are blessed with a vast choice of terrain, from a leisurely ride along the wooded and level trails of Seal Bay Park, to a gnarly rainforest singletrack trail, to the excitement of the Monster Mile Downhill at Mount Washington. The Valley is known as one of Canada's top riding sites, and offers adventure, challenge and fun for all ages. By Golf Club:
The Comox Valley and surrounding area has nine golf courses, six of which are open year-round.
Facilities range from a deluxe championship golf course complete with full service clubhouse, four star accommodation, restaurant and lounge to a miniature golf course that caters to family groups. Each course has its own special attributes, and all possess stunning mountain views. Special stay and golf packages are available at many hotels, motels and resorts.
By Campground:
Camping is an enjoyable way to experience an area and become acquainted with its flora and fauna. The Comox Valley has many privately owned and provincial park campgrounds and most offer unlimited opportunities for fishing, hiking, cycling, beach combing and boating.
