Springbank Links Golf Course - Just Outside Calgary, AB
Picture Springbank Links opened for play in August 1997, presenting an 18-hole "Championship" golf course situated in one of the most spectacular settings in the Calgary Area.
The front 9 holes are carved in a series of steep coulee valleys that roll their way down to the Bearspaw Reservoir. Numerous elevation changes require exciting shots through chutes of tress and over ball-hungry ravines. The back 9 is a whole new game as the land transforms into rolling terrain featuring 2 lakes, 2 ponds and an incredible sandstone waterfall that cascades between greens 12 & 14.
The route design was done by Rod Whitman, who also designed the renowned Wolf Creek Golf Resort. The sculpting of Springbank Links focused on preserving the existing landscape, exposing a unique, exciting layout that was selected by the Royal Canadian Golf Association to host the 2001 "Canadian Club Champions Championship". Total yardage from the forward tees os 5180 and stretches back to 6777 from the tips (pro tees).
