Traveling with your dog across the United
States can indeed be frustrating for the active dog owner. Many
popular destinations such as American national parks do not welcome
dogs. But active dog owners don't have to be shut out from America's
splendors.
Your dog can't trot among the giant
saguaro cacti in Arizona's Saguaro National Park but he can hike
past the stately sentinels of the desert on the Canyon Loop at
nearby Catalina State Park. Dogs will never be able to walk under
the greatest collection of natural bridges on earth at Utah's
Arches National Park but just down the road dogs are welcome on
the Negro Bill Canyon Trail in the Colorado River National Recreation
Area that leads to the sixth longest stone arch in the United
States. Your dog will never look 1000 feet straight down at the
confluence of the Green and Colorado rivers in Canyonlands National
Park but next door in Dead Horse Point State Park she can look
down 1500 feet into the canyon at the Green River below.
At hikewithyourdog.com we want to help you
identify the best places to hike with your dog in America and
Canada. Don't leave your dog at home
again - grab that leash and hit the trail!
A Bark On The Beach
It is hard to imagine any place
a dog is happier than at a beach. Whether running around on the
sand, jumping in the water or just lying in the sun, every dog
deserves a day at the beach. But all too often dog owners stopping
at a sandy stretch of beach are met with signs designed to make
hearts - human and canine alike - droop:
NO DOGS ON BEACH.
Our new E-Book - A BARK ON THE
BEACH: BEACH RULES FOR DOG AROUND AMERICA identifies those beaches
where dogs are welcome (and where they're not). There are regulations
for dogs from more than 1300 beaches in 500+ beach towns. The
beaches come from both the Atlantic Ocean and Pacific Ocean, the
Gulf of Mexico and the five Great Lakes.
So the next time you plan a
trip to the shore, don't forget to include the dog. Grab that
leash and hit the beach!
