Answers:

Q: What is Elicina®?
A: Elicina® is a
proteic, organic, natural, hypoallergenic cosmetic and dermatologic cream whose skin regenerating and healing power  was discovered by chance by the Bascuñan Family in Chile -and then made into a wound dressing cream for the repair, healing and remediation of damage to the skin from trauma, surgery or other events that result in breaks, stretch marks, and wrinkles of the skin.

Q: What is Elicina® made of?
A: Elicina® is mainly the extract from the abundant secretions left on it's paths by a cute little animal you can see in the picture at the top of the page: the Chilean snail Helix Aspersa Müller. These secretions are used by the snail to quickly regenerate his own shell and skin whenever damaged.

Elicina® is a  patented cream containing 80% Helix Aspersa Müller extract and 20% excipients to make the extract a cream and preserve it's natural ingredients from being spoiled by micro-organisms.

Q: How does Elicina® work?
A: Elicina®
works by triggering and accelerating the regeneration of the skin and the replacement of scar tissues with new collagen cells. Results are permanent. It also acts as a natural antibiotic and unlike pharmaceutical antibiotics does not create any bacterial resistance.

This bio-compatible ingredients are  Allantoin, Collagen, Elastin, Proteins, and Vitamins. They nourish the skin, improve elasticity, restore the water holding properties of healthy skin and natural color and leave it baby soft and smooth.

It also contains Glycolic Acid and Natural Antibiotics. All in a complex natural skin friendly form. Acts as an exfoliant eliminating dead cells and eliminates pathogens,

The perfect all-in-one natural skin care product for acne, warts, scars (keloids), wrinkles, eczema, burns, stretch marks, age spots, minor cuts and a soft silky soothed skin after shaved.

The natural antibiotics in Elicina® destroy the pathogens present on the surface of the skin and in the skin pores and begins to act like a barrier between compromised skin surfaces and the environment.  Pathogens such as bacteria and viruses enter the body through breaks in the skin, gaining access to the blood stream and causing an increased immune system reaction. This activity interrupts the repair and healing process, which interferes with the normal lay down of skin cells. Additionally, we see evidence of erythema (redness) around the affected site, as well as some superficial edema (swelling) and an excited production and lay down of collagen. By blocking the microbial pathway to the blood stream, Elicina® allows the immune system to heal the damage in an environment similar to that in which a broken bone heals inside the body.

Q: How long will it take for the damaged skin to heal?
A: A number of factors play a role in the speed and the degree to which the skin will repair and heal itself. Those factors include the age of the scar or damaged area, the age of the patient, the extent of damage, the response of the individual's immune system, therapy compliance, isolation from added damage or irritation, exposure to sunlight, family history, and skin color type. In many instances results are seen within a relatively short period of time (4 to 8 weeks), but patience is the key in any healing process.

Q: Is Elicina® difficult to use?
A: On the contrary, Elicina® is very easy to apply. Simply apply Elicina® to the affected site in the morning and in the evening before bedtime. After cleaning the affected area, pat dry and gently massage a very thin coat of Elicina® over the site and that is all there is to it.

Q: What types of scars is Elicina® effective on?
A: Elicina® is ideal on all types of scars, such as keloid, hypertrophic, superficial scars, healed over lacerations, various forms of dermatitis, insect bites, minor burns, scars as a result of diseases of the skin, acne scars, stretch marks (scars within the dermis), etc.

Q: What is a keloid scar?
A: A keloid is an overgrowth of scar tissue at the site of a skin wound. The new tissue is elevated, rounded, and firm, with irregular and claw-like margins. Keloids occur most often in heavily pigmented people and tend to get progressively worse.

Q: What is a hypertrophic scar?
A: A hypertrophic scar is a wound that heals to greater than normal size as a result of a aggressive lay down of collagen, contained in larger than normal skin cells, producing a raised, smooth, hyper-pigmented result. The site maintains a higher than normal level of sensitivity and the tissue is more fibrous in structure.

Q: Does Elicina® work on keloid and hypertrophic scars?
A: Elicina® has shown to flatten, soften, smooth and dramatically improve the discoloration noted with these types of aggressive scars. In cases involving heavily pigmented people where damaged skin was treated on half with Elicina® and the other half left alone, the side covered with Elicina® healed normally, the uncovered site formed a hypertrophic scar.

Q: Is Elicina® effective after laser resurfacing or dermabrasiion?
A: Elicina® is recommended as a  treatment for post laser or post dermabrasion use, and is especially effective in the reduction and elimination of erythema (redness) associated with dermatological procedures.

The key to skin renewal is a process where (1) the skin is irritated or slightly damaged by exfoliating agents (such as glycolic acid contained naturally and in a low dose in Elicina) or mildly damaged by other procedures ("sanding" by dermabrasion or burning by laser). This is followed by (2) a natural rebuilding of the skin that removes imperfections, rebuilds collagen and elastin fibers that tighten skin, and increases the amount of glycosamoinoglycans, the moisture-holding proteins that give skin its firmness. The stronger the exfoliation or skin damage, the stronger is the skin rebuilding action. Unfortunately, strong exfoliation causes strong skin irritation with itching, burning, and pain. And the results of laser resurfacing or dermabrasion depend on the skills of the practician. However, to get good results it is imperative skin healing progresses at rapid pace. Here is where Elicina plays its role.

Elicina, as the snail's slime it is made off, contains a low dose of glycolic acid combined with skin regenerating accelerators. When used as a long term skin care routine (2 to 4 months) it may be as good as a short term strong chemical peel or a skilled dermabrasion procedure. The skin regeneration accelerators are: allantoin and special proteins and peptides (amino-acid chains) that signal the body to start reproducing human skin cells as quickly as for the repair of the snail's skin.

Q: Is Elicina® safe to use on children or pregnant women?
A: Yes, Elicina®  is completely bio-compatible and safe for children and pregnant or nusing women.

Q: Are there any side effects associated with the use of Elicina®?
A: There have been no side effects observed with the use of Elicina®. The ingredients in Elicina® are completely compatible with human biology

Elicina contains glycolic acid as is in the snails slime, in a small proportion (approx. 1.6%) and combined with the skin repair substances. It gently peels off the dead outer layer of the skin and opens the pores for the skin regenerating ingredients to penetrate deeply into the skin follicles where it repairs damaged tissues and acts as a natural antibiotic against infections.

Our recommendation is to apply only a little Elicina cream on patted dry skin after washing it with only lots of warm water, twice a day. If you place too much then the peeling is too much and your feeling of dryness may be uncomfortable. Some people experience a "tingling", or "tightness" or "dry" effect (or similar) during the first two weeks of using Elicina and then it subsides. This can be remedy by applying a moisturizer on top of Elicina after waiting about 15 minutes for it to be absorbed. Make Up can also be used over Elicina if you just wait 15 minutes for it to be absorbed.

Q: Does Elicina® have any odor associated with it?
A: No, Elicina® is a white cream and 100% odor free.

Q: Are there any restrictions on the use Elicina®?
A: Elicina® applied to open or fresh wounds will itch during a few seconds, which is uncomfortable but has no other consequence. We even recommend to immediately apply a second layer after the itching is over. Now, since it contains Glycolic acid, which peels the skin's surface, you should not apply too much or too frequently. You  should also protect your new skin from the sun. We also recommend the use of a moisturizing cream to attenuate the drying effect Elicina® has on the skin. Be careful not to place it in contact with the eyes.
