 With the reopening of the historical Hotel Savoy in May 2000, Rocco Forte Hotels gave back to Florence an ancient building, which was already used as a hotel in 1896.
Brought back to luxury standards, the Savoy is the most central hotel in Florence, situated in the area of the ancient Mercato Vecchio, today Piazza della Repubblica (see map), where in the Roman times the "Cardo" and the "Decumeno" (TodayVia del Corso/Via Strozzi and Via Calinala/Via Roma) corssed.
The charming and elegant style and the atmosphere of past times have been maintained after the modern re-styling of the 107 rooms, including 9 suites, many of them offering wonderful views of Piazza della Repubblica and Giotto's tower.
