MESSAGE from the CLERK, DOROTHY H. WILKEN
Welcome to the Clerk's web site!I am very proud to announce an exciting development in public record accessibility for our customers.
Images from two million documents filed since 1993 in the Legal Records section of the Clerk's Office are now available for viewing here on our web site. By entering the Internet either at home or work, you can eliminate a trip to the Courthouse. Previously, our Official Records Listing on our web site allowed you to determine if a record existed in the Courthouse. Now, you will not only learn if a record exists, but view all the pages of the document, be it a lien, deed, mortgage, marriage license or judgment. A document on the web site can be researched many ways including the name of an individual, business, or the type of document.
Making records available on Clerks' web sites throughout Florida was a mandate from the state Legislature. This past session, however, lawmakers in Tallahassee concluded that their previous actions may have had an unintended consequence: identification fraud. As a result, new privacy laws have been passed. Beginning Oct. 1, individuals should not file documents at the Clerk’s Office that contain Social Security, bank account, credit, debit or charge card numbers. Information already in the court or official record, and on the Clerk’s Official Records Internet pages, may be removed, as well, by filling out a Request for Removal of Social Security, Bank Account, Credit, Debit, or Charge Card Number. There is no fee for this service.
A second privacy law, that went into effect June 5, allows you to remove from our Internet site any of these recorded documents: military discharges, death certificates, or court file records pertaining to family law, juvenile procedure or probate matters. Use a Request for Internet Document Removal Form provided here or at the Courthouses

Civil court records and traffic tickets
Besides legal records, you can now use our web site to research civil court matters, including the status of a case, through a program we call CourtConnect. Information available through CourtConnect would be:
-- Civil Actions greater than $15,000
-- Foreclosure Actions
-- Eminent Domain Proceedings
-- Ejectment Actions
-- Home Solicitation Permits
-- Marriage License Applications and CeremoniesUnlike Legal Records, this system does not provide an image of the document. However, these records are available for review in the Courthouse.
Traffic Tickets
Another technological breakthrough we have made recently is the launching of an interactive voice response system for payment of Traffic Tickets. Paying a ticket by credit card over the phone can be accomplished in two to three minutes. The ticket payer needs to know the citation number and have a VISA or MasterCard credit card available. The phone number for paying under this system is (561) 355-2523 or 888-760-9201
from South County or the Glades. The caller must hit selection No. 2. The system, which offers a Spanish language option, is available from 6 a.m. to midnight, Monday through Friday, and 6 a.m. to noon on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Our web site was created in August 1999 as a means of bringing meaningful and pertinent information closer to you. You may not be fully familiar with our offices and I urge you to look around on our site.
The Clerk's office provides services to the public, legal community, courts, the Palm Beach County government and the Florida state government. Our duties are primarily ministerial; we follow the Florida statutes, county ordinances and court orders. It is the most demanding and complex of all the County's Constitutional Offices. The Clerk has three primary responsibilities:
![]()
![]()
Clerk of the Courts - for both the Criminal and Civil Court Systems, and for the County and Circuit Courts for the 15th Judicial District.(Please select Court Services for details on our functions in this area.) ![]()
Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners, Chief Financial Officer, Custodian of all County funds, and County Auditor. (Please select Finance Department for details on our functions in this area.)
![]()
County Recorder (Please select Legal Record Services for details on our functions in this area.)
Our primary function as Clerk of the Board of Commissioners is to act as your accountant and official watchdog. As such, we have custody of the County's financial system and we oversee the expenditure of tax dollars to ensure they are spent in accordance with the law, policy and budget.
The Clerk collects and distributes Court fines and fees that enable local and state agencies to serve you more effectively. In addition, our office safely invests and earns revenues on more than $1.6 billion of surplus funds each year which supplements the County's annual budget.
Some who access the Clerk's web page may be experiencing unpleasant circumstances in Court or with County government. Still, it is our goal to make it as easy as possible for you to deal with our office, and to provide you with the most efficient and user-friendly service. In fact, if you have any questions about, or problems with, our web pages please call me directly at (561) 355-2996, or toll free from South County or the 'Glades at 930-9727. Or, you may E-Mail me.
