Bellagio to Rennovate
Just when
you thought you had seen it all, Bellagio reinvents itself with
a $375 million renovation plan. Bellagio will add a 925-room
tower, an expansion of the Bellagio spa and salon, 60,000 square
feet of meeting space, 5,000 square feet of retail shops and a
casually elegant restaurant. Construction is set to begin in
mid-2003 with completion scheduled for December 2004. According
to Robert Baldwin, President and CEO of Mirage Resorts, the
expansion will provide tourists with another unique experience.
Bellagio opened in 1998, inspired by the beautiful villages of
Tuscany; the resort overlooks a Mediterranean blue eight-acre
lake in which fountains perform an aquatic ballet choreographed
to music and lights. Located within Bellagio are award-winning
restaurants including Picasso, a Mobil Five-Star/AAA
Five-Diamond restaurant, a world-class art gallery, beautiful
gardens and Cirque du Soleil’s aquatic theatrical production,
“O.” The resort’s shopping promenade, Via Bellagio, features
upscale shops such as Giorgio Armani, Gucci, Tiffany & Co.,
Prada, Fred Leighton, Hermes, Moschino, and Yves Saint Laurent.
Bellagio is a wholly owned subsidiary of MGM Mirage.
