Thai
Fishing Guide has now secured the sole agency
of a new freshwater fishing El Dorado in Phuket.
Par
Lai Lake is without a doubt the most idyllic and beautiful fishing
park
in Thailand with tropical vegetation along the banks of
the main lake and all of its smaller channels.
Another bonus is that the lake hasn't
been fished for 7 years
which makes the fish extremely curious and not at all hook-shy.
Not only do we guarantee fish but a
good chance of catching a large
variety of species, some of which are not found elsewhere in Thailand.
These include:
Indo-Pacific Tarpon, Giant
Gourami, Snakeskin
Gourami, Tilapia,
Great
Snakehead, Giant
Snakehead, Striped
Catfish, Giant
Mekong Catfish,
Silver
Shark, several species of
Pacu, Carp
and Barb.
Striped
Catfish are the speciality of this park with the lake holding several
potential world records.The current IGFA
world record for this species is 10.4 kg.
Thai Fishing Guide clients have already, on several occasions,
landed bigger fish than this but have never claimed the record.

During high season (November - March),
we offer guided fly fishing
sessions on request, for anglers interested in Indo-Pacific
Tarpon,
Red Bellied
Pacu and Snakehead.
These species are usually targeted using
a 7 to 9 rod 6/7 weight rod
loaded with a floating or intermediate line and a 30 lb leader tippet.
The most productive flies for these
species are white and green
or only white fish imitations with flash.
It is also possible to target Giant
Gourami and Indo-Pacific
Tarpon
using dry flies from certain spots in this park.
In this case the flies should be white,
brown, green
or a combination of these colours.
Please note that fly fishing equipment
is not
provided and you should therefore
bring along your own equipment and flies.
All facilities are also right on the
bank including restaurants,
snack and drink stands, rest rooms and even
an aquarium where you can have a look
at some of the species found in the lake.
