Prairie

It is hard to believe that a rolling sea of grass once covered much of Illinois. Today, except for a few isolated pockets, the prairie is all but gone. In fact, only .01 percent remains.

Our 15-acre prairie will give you a glimpse of this habitat's wild and uncommon beauty.

Find out more about the six prairie ecosystems displayed at the Chicago Botanic Garden. See what's in bloom now.
