Renowned for its long ribbons of powder-white beach and brilliant Caribbean waters, Cancun is Mexico's premier island resort! Enjoy world-class resorts, famous restaurants, scuba diving, snorkeling, open markets, chic discotheques, ancient Mayan ruins and every fun-filled activity under the sun! Once a retreat for Mayan princes, Cancun is the perfect holiday destination for the traveler who wants it all. Cancun is situated in the young State of Quintana Roo on the east of the Yucatan Peninsula, one hour by air from Miami, two hours from City and close to major Mayan ruins. Cancun was funded in April 20, 1970, The resident mark is considered as 400,000 inhabitants and it is Mexico's most modern and luxurious Caribbean resort, with attractive beaches, excellent weather, and a convenient location near Mayan archaeological sites. The Time-Zone actually is the same as Central USA and Canada with daylight saving during summer. Visitors can enjoy the best services in the numerous and most luxury hotels and resorts. One-day excursions are offered to the fascinating Maya ruins of Chichén Itzá, Tulum, and Cobá, to the islands of Cozumel and Isla Mujeres, and to nearby lagoons and isolated Caribbean beaches. It's a haven for water sports. The abundant marine life provides excellent scenarios for snorkeling and scuba-diving as well as sailing, boating, waterskiing, and windsurfing. Bay fishing offers red snapper and bonefish; deep-sea fishing, especially in spring and summer, yields sailfish, marlin, and tuna. The nearest ancient cities of the Maya civilization, Chichen-Itza, Tulum, and Coba allow the visitors an insight into the mysterious of mayan culture. Golfers will enjoy the area's two 18-hole golf courses, and you can find tennis courts at most luxury and first-class hotels and resorts. The average temperature is 27° C (80° F) with more than 240 days of sunshine, rain is rare. The beaches are almost 100 percent limestone; the porous quality of the limestone makes for cool sand under your feet even under the intense tropical sun. The resort is fresh and clean, with a number of attractive beaches, a new mainland downtown business area with less expensive hotels, an abundance of restaurants, and a fairly active nightlife. Cancun's atmosphere is more luxurious and less quaint and intimate than neighboring Cozumel and Isla Mujeres. Cancun is divided into two parts. The narrow 23-kilometer-long (14-mile) island section (Cancun Island) is lined with modern beachfront hotels surrounded by the Bahía de Mujeres (Bay of Women), the Caribbean Sea, and the Nichupte and Bojorquez lagoons. The mainland downtown commercial section (Cancun City), connected to the island by two bridges, has broad avenues lined with whitewashed shops, restaurants, and hotels. Isla Mujeres offers many water activities for all ages. Beautiful white sand beaches where you can rent water toys, kayaks and snorkeling gear. Diving and snorkeling in the crystal clear turquoise waters, sailing, fishing and even swimming with Dolphins and Sharks. Isla Mujeres has something for everyone. Explore the natural wonders of the Mexican Caribbean at Isla Mujeres. From Isla Mujeres you can easily reach many exciting destinations along the Mayan Riviera such as Tulum and Xcaret. There are also tours available to the island of Cozumel, the Mayan ruins of Chichén-Itzá and the great city of Mérida. |
