City transport is the most difficult matter and the greatest challenge for any government. Not everybody sees a doctor because not everybody has to, many of us have already forgotten about schools, and the same refers to culture. However, almost all of us move around the city. And we all see and feel what it is like. And Cracow is a special city, whose most investment plans of the city the greatest amount of money is assigned for communication. So-called strategic inveimportant communication routes came into being in the 19th century. Lubicz Street was once a wide road for carriages. It is not and it cannot be such a road for almost 400 thousand cars registered in Cracow.

Only the ignorant cannot see thatthe situation is slowly but constantly improving. What is more important here, in thestments will entail almost 800 million PLN by the year 2004. According to the officially accepted plans in 4-5 years the communication problems of the city are going to be solved! It will be so if the Communication Center arises next to the railway station, fast streetcar is set in motion, two new bridges and a few communication junctions making it easier to get to new housing estates are constructed.

The summer of 2000 was a good time for communication. First of all those driving through Zakopianka enjoyed the fact that driving east one can avoid Mateczny roundabout and get straight to Kamienskiego Street. The other new street is Nowosadecka, which is now joined to Wielicka Street. The so-called fast streetcar will soon go that way. Inhabitants of Cracow are looking forward to this investment.

And the bridges - one of them called Zwierzyniecki - will link both banks of the Vistula river at Dêbniki and Ksiecia Jozefa Street. The second - Kotlarski bridge will end up in Podgorze beginning at Kotlarskie roundabout. Not everybody is waiting for them with the same interest. The reason for it is simple - the fears of the inhabitants of e.g. Debniki as to increased traffic. The citizens from Trzech Wieszczow alleys, poisoned with exhaust fumes, do not share their views. You cannot please everybody.
