Mexico is a friendly country filled with contrasting climate, geography and cultures. It is a fascinating "adventure" where you can swim on a luxurious beach and within an hour be climbing a pyramid. You can come face to face with Mexico's extraordinary past in the Indians that can be found almost anywhere and yet encounter a people very much in touch with the present and future. Mexico is rugged, serene and beautiful. It is a country filled with exciting Activities & Interests and experiences which will be filled with memories for a lifetime. Sport fishing is popular off the West coast and in the Gulf of California. Snorkeling and diving is wonderful in Mexico, particularly at East coast resorts like Isla Mujeres, Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, Punta Allen and Banco Chinchorro. On the Pacific coast, try Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas, Ixtapa, Mazatlan, Zihuatanejo, Acapulco and Huatulco. Inland, there are many balnearios, bathing places with swimming pools, often centered on hot springs in picturesque surroundings. Surfing is popular on the Pacific coast. Some of the best surf spots are between San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, Bahía de Matanchén, Ensenada, Mazatlán, Manzanillo and the 'Mexican Pipeline' at Puerto Escondido. Los Barriles is Baja California's windsurfing capital, and further south Puerto Vallarta and Manzanillo can be good too. Veracruz state is the epicenter of the country's white-water rafting industry. A number of Mexico City-based organizations conduct hiking and mountain-climbing trips on Mexico's volcanoes, including Iztaccíhuatl, Pico de Orizaba, Nevado de Toluca and La Malinche. The color of the Mexico's water and the powdery white sand create very beautiful beaches on both East and West coasts of Mexico. If golf interets you, then try one of Mexico's dozen top-class golf courses and numerous other courses. Many are located in spectacular natural settings, with some specially designed by famous golfers. In contrast to U.S. courses, they are usually uncrowded and comparatively reasonably priced. |
