Cricklewood Farm stay

Cricklewood Farm stay - The Hosts

Your Hosts - David and Gyneth Robins

A warm welcome awaits you at Cricklewood Farm, situated close to Fairlie 'The gateway to the Mackenzie Country'. Whether you are travelling from Mt Cook or Queenstown in the south, or Christchurch in the north it is an easy travelling distance, followed by a relaxing stay with us on our farm.

We are semi-retired farmers, farming 35 hectares/90 acres of land with sheep and are currently preparing 12 paddocks for some deer. We also have access to a large sheep and cattle farm next door and can offer you a farm tour with a trip to see breathtaking views of the mountains to the west and (weather permitting) the Pacific Ocean in the east - a unique experience. In the spring (September) you will be able to help feed the pet lambs with a bottle, and at any time of the year you can feed the poultry and dogs.

Our large home, (a wooden house built in the 1920s but with some more modern extensions) is surrounded by old trees. The extensive garden has been separated into intimate areas with roses, rhododenrons, some native plants and has a backdrop of hills. You may relax in the garden and the house, or go for a walk in the countryside.

In the evening you will be served a three-course dinner where, Gyneth and David will join you for dinner and they welcome the opportunity to answer questions and broaden your knowledge of New Zealand.

After a good night's rest you can have a traditional farm cooked breakfast, or a lighter meal.

Vegetarian meals are available with advance notice.

Smokers are requested to smoke outside.

Arrangements can be made for trout fishing in nearby rivers and lakes (price on application).
