State Endorses Fed Land Conveyance Proposals
August 7, 2003 (Juneau) --The state director of the Division of Mining, Land and Water
this morning told a Senate hearing in Anchorage that Alaska strongly
supports three bills now pending in the U.S. Senate that are aimed at
largely completing, by 2009, the transfer of lands selected by the state

Murkowski Signs Credit Scoring Bill, 2 Others
August 6, 2003(Juneau) - Governor Frank H. Murkowski today signed into law SB 13, by
Anchorage Senator John Cowdery and Juneau Senator Kim Elton, which
prohibits the use of credit ratings by insurance companies to determine
premiums or deny coverage unless the scoring models are filed with the

Bond Pool Agreement Will Help Placer Miners
August 6, 2003(Juneau) - A cooperative agreement signed today between the Alaska Department of Natural Resources and the Bureau of Land Management will allow placer mine operators on federal claims to participate in the state's mine reclamation bonding pool, making it possible for many of them to continue to operate. Governor Again Turns Down Foreign Processors
