HOTEL LOCATIONS IN GDANSK
Gdansk is a part of a Tricity (conurbation composed of three
cities: Gdansk, Gdynia and Sopot) and besides it is partly a holiday
resort. Consequently, hotels can be found in many locations.
1. Main Town + Old Town Somewhat confusingly, the
major part of the Old Town in Gdansk is called the Main Town and
the Old Town is just a small part of the lovely central historical
area. The historical areas retain the atmosphere of a mediaeval
harbour town. There are just several hotels, the most impressive
ones overlook the Motlawa River canal.
2.
Centre Gdansk business, communications and administrative
areas are very close to the Old Town. Most hotels are situated right
between the main railway station and the Motlawa River.
3. Near the Centre are the residential areas: for example-
Wrzeszcz and Oliwa. Good hotel rates and an advantage because your
accommodation is closer to the other interesting parts of the Tricity:
Sopot and Gdansk. Oliwa has the largest church in Poland
a major tourist attraction.
4. Seaside (Sobieszewo, Jelitkowo) The seaside resorts
and spas are especially popular in the summer with holiday makers
from Poland and abroad. Hotels are located either close from the
sea or directly on the beach.
5. Port & Dockyards Gdansk has a great share of both
passenger and freight traffic in Poland. Nevertheless, most people
prefer to find lodging in a centrally located hotel, because the
Gdansk port is easily accessible.
6. Sopot see our separate hotels page
7. Gdansk see our separate hotels page
8. Outside Gdansk centre There are quite many hotels
also in the suburbs especially at the western-bound highway.
In the season, you may not be able to get appropriate Gdansk hotel
accommodation for groups. The suburb hotel can be a good option.
GDANSK HOTELS MARKET
Similarly to Krakow, also in Gdansk you are likely to encounter
big problems finding the proper accommodation in the summer season.
Gdansk is really busy especially when the cruises arrive. Besides
Gdansk has a substantial business potential, therefore mind that
some hotels will give you weekend discounts. In contrast, the seaside
hotels have higher rates throughout the whole summer the
water in the Baltic Sea is not too warm, but one can bathe from
June until the end of August. Like everywhere in Poland, please
do not hesitate to use our service for good deals and carefully
selected hotel accommodation.
