STROGER NAMES NEW FPDCC GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT July 8, 2003 Cook County Forest Preserve District President John H. Stroger today named Steven M. Bylina, Jr., 53, of Chicago as the new General Superintendent of the Forest Preserve District.
"Mr. Bylina brings incredible credentials, most importantly experience in an urban area which I think is critical to the future of the District," said Stroger.
Mr. Bylina holds a Bachelor's Degree in Forestry from Southern Illinois University, a Master's Degree in Public Administration from DePaul University and a Doctor of Public Administration from Nova Southeastern University. He is also a certified arborist.
Mr. Bylina most recently served as the Deputy Commissioner with the City of Chicago’s Bureau of Forestry, where he managed a staff of more than 200 employees and oversaw a budget of up to $20 million dollars. Among his notable achievements while serving in that capacity, Mr. Bylina was responsible for the City’s response to the Asian Longhorned Beetle.
President Stroger also commended Acting General Superintendent Albert Pritchett for his hard work and dedication to the District since he began in February.
“I thank Superintendent Pritchett for the focus and diligence he brought to his post and for helping renew our staff’s commitment to excellence through his vision for the District,” said Stroger. “While his leadership will be missed, his guidance and dedication leave a legacy that only serves to benefit the start of Mr. Bylina’s tenure.”
Mr. Bylina will assume full-time duties on August 1st. |
