August 3: Hawks Little Red Schoolhouse Nature Center
1:30 p.m. Meet our red-tailed hawk, and examine feathers, talons and skulls of hawks.

August 9: Rocks and Minerals Sand Ridge Nature Center
1:30 p.m. Rocks and minerals are the backbone of our earth, and the basis for products from jewelry to concrete that we use daily. We'll examine and identify our collection using professional geologists' techniques.
August 10: Bees and Beekeeping Little Red Schoolhouse Nature Center
10:00 a.m. Buzz on over to learn more about bees - its a honey of a program!

2:30 p.m. Meet some of our worms and learn how important they are in nature, with a story and activities especially for preschoolers.
August 16: Theater Hike Little Red Schoolhouse Nature Center
1:00 p.m. "Alice Through the Looking Glass" presented on a walk through the woods, by the Theater Hikes Play Company. Suggested donation to support the company: $10/adult, $5/children.

August 30: Chicago Portage Walk and Work Day Little Red Schoolhouse Nature Center
9:00 a.m. - noon. Enjoy a walk on this historic ground, then stay to help restore the area's beauty by removing brush and trash. Groups are welcome! Bring work gloves if you have them.
