Mini guide to Tampa
Sunny Tampa Florida offers a range of opportunities for tourists and visitors. From swimming in the Gulf of Mexico to riding on one of the world’s largest roller coasters, there is plenty of variety for vacationers. The Busch Garden theme park and Florida Aquarium are two of Tampa’s most popular attractions. An African theme runs through Busch gardens, and it rivals Walt Disney world in terms of opportunities for thrill seekers, and includes a small zoo of African animals. The Florida Aquarium contains a recreated wetland area and an enclosed coral reef teeming with tropical fish. Around the city are several museums including the Museum of Science and Industry and the Tampa Museum of Art that includes works by both established artists and the up-and-coming. For moviegoers, there is the old twenties-style Tampa theatre with its glittering star-studded ceiling and mythological statues. The Ybor City area has numerous restaurants, clubs, bars and hotels. If you feel like having a swim just head down to the beach, or go to Adventure Island, a water park with swimming pools as well as a variety of water slides. Near Tampa are St. Pete Beach, with its beautiful white sand, and Hillsborough State Park, which offers good hiking, biking and camping. Also, the Salvador Dali Museum in nearby St. Petersburg contains the largest selection of his works outside of Spain. There are direct daily flights to Tampa International Airport from many cities around the United States. There is also a daily rail service to Tampa from states to the north.
