3. I appreciate your FTPMAIL service but would like to
be sent your weather forecasts by e-mail on a scheduled basis rather than
having to request a forecast each time. How can I do this?
Many e-mail systems such as Lotus CCMAIL include a feature to send e-mails
on a scheduled basis. If your e-mail system does not contain this feature there are
several commercial web-based e-mail
services which do such as
www.usa.net
Within your FTPMAIL script file,
include the "reply-to" command to have the FTPMAIL server send the
results to your primary e-mail account.
You may also be able to combine the scheduling feature
with one of the public FTP-to-EMAIL and WWW-to-EMAIL servers
(Our FTPMAIL server is limited to NOAA products available via FTP only) available to
allow Internet access if you do not have direct
or cost effective access to the World Wide Web but are equipped with an e-mail system to form
an extremely useful system. CLICK HERE for information.
A free service which is similar in concept to FTPMAIL and also allows retrieval of NWS marine GRIB files, simple webpages, and products to be retrieved on a scheduled, recurring basis may be found at:
www.saildocs.com
If you are interested in only hurricane products, the National
Hurricane Listserver, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Listserver, or Hurricane Watch Net YahooGroup Listserver , may better suite your needs.
Note: Any reference to a commercial product or service does not imply any endorsement by the National Weather Service as to function or suitability for your purpose or environment.

5. Is the voice I hear on NOAA Weather Radio a computerized voice or a real person?
You are most likely listening to a computer synthesized voice.
Efforts are underway to both expand the coverage of the NOAA
Weather Radio network and improve the audio quality.
If you hear words in a broadcast which need to have the
pronunciation adjusted, forward your comments to the
appropriate NWS forecast office so they can attempt to improve the
pronunciation.
Please visit NOAA Weather Radio.
