The Internet in the Community
When children use the Internet in school or in a library, their experiences will be different from when they are connecting at home. Libraries and schools may have different rules for Internet use than your family because they must serve the needs of many families. Libraries, schools, and other community centers must represent a diversity of values and viewpoints. They must consider the right to free speech and offer the broadest range of information to the public.
Parents should think about the places where their children have access to the Internet - what are the child safety policies at each of these places? They can make sure their children understand the rules and know how to follow them in each situation.
