Thailand Destination Guide

Central Thailand

As a hub of culture, the central region is covered with a rich tapestry of tourist attractions. Only in Bangkok, travelers may need a few weeks to explore this vibrant city. One among other highlights in Bangkok is its numerous temples standing alongside the modern high-rises, chaotic metropolitan activities and immense traffic jam. Shopping and nightlife scenes in Bangkok are among those loveliest in the world. Just a hundred kilometers from Bangkok, you witness the different scene and atmosphere of the large paddy-fields, green and lush scenery as well as more ambling lifestyle of people in Damnern Saduak, Kanchanaburi, and Nakhon Pathom. North of Bangkok, you can witness the trace of the glorious days of Ayutthaya, the Khmer-influenced architectures in Lopburi, and experience the peaceful and fascinating historical parks in Sukhothai, the first capital of Thailand in the early times.

Eastern Thailand

Graced with coastline and abundant natural resources, the eastern Thailand has emerged to be the popular beach resort area close to Bangkok. Its beautiful beaches and idyllic islands always allure a number of tourists throughout the year. Pattya is the world-famous beach resort town, boasted for its lovely beaches and colorful nightlife. Ko Samet in Rayong is another hot spot in the region, offering the relatively unspoiled beaches and island with some isolated pockets to explore. Ko Chang in Trat province is the new escape for nature lovers with its secluded beaches and magnificent scenery.

Northern Thailand

The breathtaking nature and distinctively fascinating tradition have made the northern region one of the most favorite tourist destinations in Thailand. The former Lanna Kingdom, the region has inherited the precious cultural heritages from its past glorious days. Chiang Mai, the former capital of Lanna Kingdom is a great starting point for any further exploration in the region. Countless Lanna temples dotted in the old city Chiang Mai and throughout the region are its prime highlights. Its stunning landscapes varying from towering mountains, green and lush valleys, dense jungle, gorges and waterfalls give a way to adventurous activities like trekking, water rafting, elephant-riding, and mountain biking. Moreover, the northern region embraces the hidden kingdoms in the mountains- the hill-tribe people. Their charming culture has created a colorful patchwork of culture to the region. If you would like to have a remarkable and worthy trip, the northern region will be your ideal choice.

Northeastern Thailand

With its dominant Laotian ethnicity, the northeastern region offers the different facet of Thai culture. Many off-beaten track destinations are all available in the region. Distinctive culture is represented as architecture, language, tradition and lifestyle. Temples in Laotian style together with many other Khmer temples are a fascinating co-habitation of the cultural diversity. The sprawling plateau is also dotted with archeological sites which can be traced back to pre-historic times. Archeological finds at Ban Chiang have proved that the northeastern region has been inhabited by human at least 5,000 years ago. The unearthed fossils of dinosaurs in Khonkaen are considerably profitable to the world geological studies. Natural landscapes in the region are also considered second to none. Khao Yai National Park, Thailand’s most popular park boasts a dozen of hiking trials, beautiful waterfalls, and various protected wildlife from wild elephants to hornbills. Phu Kradung National Park in Loei province is always the favorite destination for hikers, campers, and nature lovers; the sunset here is considered one of the most spectacular in Thailand.

Southern Thailand

Blessed with dazzling sands and iridescent waters, southern Thailand has long been in its enduring popularity among Western visitors. If you are looking for the quiet get-away not far from Bangkok, Hua Hin is an ideal place. Losing some of its idyllic charm, Hua Hin is still good for a short-time relaxation in tranquility. Ko Samui is well-known for its superb beaches and lush coconut palms with many available luxurious hotels. Phuket, the Southeast Asia’s largest and most popular beach resort teemed with colorful nightlife and advanced development apart from its splendid beaches and islands. Despite its overwhelming growth, Phuket still offer the unspoiled pockets to explore. However, if the crowded beaches and boisterous beat of nightlife bore you, the Southern Thailand spares a hideaway for your real relaxation. Ko Lanta in Krabi offers you the spectacular beaches and its secluded atmosphere; Pang Nga is graced with its stunning landscapes of limestone mountains and dazzling beaches and sea, Trang, a clean and unspoiled town will offer you an opportunity to discover some of the best underwater worlds in Thailand.
