VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

SOAR is in need of volunteers to assist in a variety of duties. The animals need you. Please email or call (910) 457-6340 and talk to our volunteer coordinator now.

Future Soar Volunteer

SOAR volunteer opportunities:

• people who have an interest in fund-raising. We need ideas and volunteers who can bring these ideas to fruition.
• walking dogs - We would like to have the dogs walked twice a day and currently there are some days when they are not even getting walked once. They really need more exercise and there just aren’t enough volunteers.
•weekend feeding of the dogs and cleaning of their kennels.
• training puppies and dogs - This will make them much more adoptable.
• transporting animals to adoption sites, vet, etc. We have a need for volunteers who will help at adoption fairs; especially with cats.
• visiting and inspecting homes both pre and post adoption
• taking a dog wearing a special "Please adopt me" cape, to town and showing him/her off in public areas
• cuddling kittens and puppies (just like human infants they need lots of physical love)
• petting cats and dogs
• feeding cats and dogs and changing water
• sweeping the floor of the cattery
• cleaning dog kennels and cat cages
• taking a dog to the beach
• adopting a dog or cat for a weekend only
• helping with the laundry
• building a run
• assisting with adoption Saturdays at SOAR
• answering phones
• transporting supplies
• building and grounds maintenance
• people to provide content for our website. Our new 'honor grads' section really needs people willing to write some of the great stories that have happened to SOAR and the animals over the years.
• volunteers to keep paperwork and records organized.
• people who will help write and publish our newsletter.
• a photographer who would be willing to take pictures of the animals for our website and publications.
