Ironman Langkawi Malaysia Triathlon (February)
The popularity of Ironman triathlons in the Pacific Rim is demonstrated by
the growth of the second Ironman Langkawi Malaysia Triathlon on beautiful
Langkawi Island.
The race course takes competitors through
both coastal and rural scenery. The swim is set in the clean and calm
waters off the host town of Kuah. The bike course loops the island two and
a half times, and the run takes competitors on a full island loop as well,
winding up back in Kuah, at the famed Eagle Promenade.
Le Tour De Langkawi (February)
Peninsular Malaysia Asian version of Le Tour De France, see the worlds'
finest cyclists test their mental strength and physical endurance to the
limit in this yearly world class race in Langkawi. The grueling
multi-stage route flags off in Langkawi and traverses the length of
Peninsular Malaysia before finishing in Kuala Lumpur. Exciting cultural
dances, parades, performances and a whole host of shows and displays
accompany this prestigious event.
Royal Langkawi International Regatta
(March)
The Royal Langkawi International Regatta in March 2003 is created to
celebrate the completion of the new breakwater and an additional 157
berths at the Royal Langkawi Yacht Club, the latest development of marine
facilities. It is planned to be an annual event organized each year for
the end of the racing season on the west coast of Malaysia and Thailand.
The lovely natural surroundings of Langkawi combined with the friendly
people of the island make this destination an ideal venue for a regatta
and enhances the Asian Yachting circuit's calendar.
The first Royal Langkawi International
Regatta will be held from 11 to 16 March 2003 and offers both the serious
racing sailor and the cruising yachtsman some fine racing and great
parties.
