1. Request a Catalog
The
first step in the application process is to request a catalog. You may
request a catalog by filling in an online form
or by sending email to eil@worldlearning.org
with your name, telephone number, complete surface address, and a brief
description of the programs in which you are interested. Please call us
toll-free at
(800) 345-2929, or write to The Experiment in International Living,
Kipling Road, P.O. Box 676 Brattleboro, Vermont 05302-0676 with any questions.
2. Submit a Preliminary Application
- The printed catalog includes a Preliminary Application. Please submit
your Preliminary Application as soon as possible. Reservations are on
a first-come, first-served basis.
- You may download the Preliminary
Application in Adobe Acrobat (PDF) Format (Adobe
Acrobat Reader required).
- Upon receipt of your preliminary application and deposit, we will
send you supplementary application materials.

3. Submit the Secondary Application materials
- Secondary application materials include: a personal profile; a medical
form; international travel documentation/passport verification; instructions
for your "Dear Family" letter; conditions of participation; and a request
for four photographs.
All secondary application materials must be submitted WITHIN 30 DAYS
of preliminary application or by
May 1, 2003, whichever is earlier.

Helpful Suggestions
- If you do not have a passport, apply for one now, especially if your
program requires a visa.
- If you have not had a medical physical since June 2002, make an appointment
as soon as possible.
Eligibility Requirements
All of our programs are open to students who have completed their ninth
grade year but have not yet entered college or university.

Program Fees
Program fees include: round-trip international transportation (except
for programs in Mexico and Navajo Nation); orientation; guidance by
a skilled group leader; placement with a host family; all meals and
lodging; host country transportation; admission to program-related events;
health and accident insurance; and baggage insurance.
Program fees do not include: domestic transportation to and from program
starting point; personal spending money; and required travel documents
and immunizations.
Financial Assistance
Financial assistance is available to a limited number of participants
in The Experiment in International Living's summer program. Awards are
based on need and on a first-come, first-served basis. To request a
financial aid application, send a letter to the attention of the director
of financial aid along with the preliminary application and deposit.
