Educational Programmes

Fisheries Awareness & Education

The future of Ireland's vital natural resources depends upon an awareness by the public of fisheries environmental and conservation issues. The Board seeks to address this through awareness campaigns and the education of the young and not so young in the region. In addition the Board recognises the importance of angling as a recreational activity and actively encourages the sport. We organise and run many angling tuition workshops covering topics and activities such as rod handling skills, fly tying, environmental field studies including classroom talks and presentations.

Education Programmes

We aim over 2002 and 2003 to build this section of our website into a valuable resource for students to conduct college and school research, We will feature a section on Science and Research and a Kids Zone where we will have quizzes and other topics of  educational value.

Fisheries Awareness & Environmental Workshop 2002

The Shannon Regional Fisheries Board in association with the Little Brosna and Camcor Angling Club Birr hosted a Fisheries Awareness & Environmental Workshop over the weekend of Saturday and Sunday September 28th & 29th 2002

The workshop through it’s fisheries and environmental awareness theme served to highlight the importance of us all playing our joint and independent roles in protecting and enhancing our natural fisheries environment for the present and future generations.
