You are the cornerstone to a successful Experiment.
We are looking to engage dynamic, thoughtful young men and women who have
a strong desire to give of themselves to a cross-cultural educational
experience. Bring an open mind, an open heart, curiosity, and a thirst
to learn, and your Experiment will be greatly enriched.
Your Experiment Group is made up of students from a wide range
of backgrounds and experiences. Experimenters come from small towns and
large cities, public and private schools, and different races, religions,
sexual orientations, physical abilities, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Our dynamic groups, typically 8-15 students each, foster an atmosphere
of understanding, acceptance, learning, and growth, and give our host
families abroad -- as well as Experimenters themselves -- a feel for America's
diversity. In fact, many students learn as much about the United States
as they do about the country they are visiting.
Your Group Leader supports you and your group throughout your
entire program. Experiment group leaders are dynamic, responsible, knowledgeable
adults who facilitate each student's learning experience, encourage personal
growth, and keep Experimenters safe. Our leaders are chosen for their
skill in working with young people, as well as their cross-cultural experience,
leadership capabilities, emotional maturity, and language competency.
Beginning at orientation, leaders help students increase their knowledge
of the country and culture, develop communication skills, and cultivate
new attitudes and awareness. They guide students through ongoing discussion
and reflection on their experiences, conduct group excursions, and keep
in close touch with all host families and Experimenters during the homestay.
At the end of the program, the leader helps students evaluate their experiences
and recognize that their "experiment" has just begun.
International Offices
Partner offices in each host country help create, administer, and
support our programs. We have worked for decades with caring in-country
experts to create programs that make the most of local resources and ensure
the safety and welfare of our students.
Experiment Headquarters
Dedicated Experiment staffers at our Vermont headquarters support
you from the beginning of the application process to the completion of
your program. We help answer your questions, prepare you for your journey,
and are available throughout the summer, should your family have any questions
or concerns.
