Posted: October 7, 2003 at 2:52 p.m. BERKELEY (AP) -- The University of California will review its admissions procedures at all undergraduate campuses. This after a recent report finding that UC Berkeley admitted hundreds of students with SAT scores lower than those of applicants denied admission.
The report shows that almost 400 admitted undergraduates last year had SAT scores between 600 and 1000, well below the average score of 1337.
Nearly two thousand 600 applicants with scores from 1400 to 1500 were not admitted. In addition, 600 would-be Cal students with SAT scores above 1500 were rejected.
Berkeley administrators say many students with high SAT scores had low grade-point averages and note the test is only one factor in judging an academic record.
