Objectives
The Interactive Media business development team seeks strategic alliance and investment opportunities that can accelerate Meredith's online initiatives and generate revenues.
Specifically, we are looking for partners who can help us:

  • Market Meredith magazine subscriptions online.
  • Increase site visitors, registrations and e-mail addresses to enhance Meredith's consumer database and direct marketing initiatives.
  • Increase our online and magazine advertising and sponsorship revenues.
  • Enhance our content functionality and utility in our core content areas of decorating, food, home improvement and remodeling.
  • Generate revenue by leveraging Meredith's marketing capabilities, including custom publishing and database marketing.
  • Extend our content presence on the Web through appropriate distribution and licensing opportunities.

Selection Criteria
To initiate the partnering process, potential Interactive Media partners should illustrate their value-adding capabilities. Among the issues to address:

  • How will the potential relationship advance Meredith's interactive growth objectives and initiatives listed above?
  • What will the alliance achieve? What will be the tangible results?
  • How will the partnership generate significant financial return?
  • Has the potential partner's product or service been established or launched, or is it still under development? Does their business model show proven results?
  • Is the potential partner the market leader in its area of activity?
  • How do the partner's values and focus align with Meredith's?
  • Are there potential conflicts between this alliance and those of our existing partners or marketing and advertising customers?

Sizing a Relationship
The most compelling partners will provide significant benefits to Meredith across multiple metrics:

  • Content licensing revenue
  • Online and print advertising and sponsorships
  • Integrated marketing services such as custom publishing, database and direct marketing, etc.
  • Magazine subscription sales
  • Registrations
  • Traffic increase (page views)
  • Traffic increase (visitors)

Submitting Proposals
Business development proposals to Meredith Interactive Media should:

  1. Describe the opportunity clearly and concisely.
  2. Address the issues listed above as selection criteria.
  3. Explain the extent of commitment that your firm intends to provide, and the commitment expected of Meredith.
  4. Identify objectives, including financial projections, to gauge performance.
  5. Include a timeline; and
  6. Include your firm's business plan (if applicable).
