About the meetings!
The club meets the second Thursday of each month. 8PM at the Belmar Firehouse
located on 7th Ave. in Belmar on the north side of the first block!
Directions: Take the Parkway to Exit 98 and get off heading east on 195.
Take 195 East as if you were heading towards the ocean. Follow that road all the
way until it comes to the end in Belmar where it will curve off to the
north....that will put you at a stop light where you will roughly be facing
Shark River...heading towards Belmar. This will be Highway 35 North....follow
this road until you pass the Belmar Marina on your left, there will be a big
diner on the right, Pat's Diner. Make a right at the light immediately after the
diner, 8th Ave. Follow to the first light, go left....make your first right onto
7th. Ave. You'll see the firehouse on the left on the first block. Pull into the
parking area just past the firehouse. Park in there. If it's full...pull through
that little lot and park on the street where the parking lot dumps you out...6th
Ave. Just come on in! If I'm not there, just go to the guys sitting up front at
the big desk and tell them Tim Surgent sent you, you will be well received!
Bring a friend, no need to join if you don't want, but we'd love to have you!
Everyone is welcome to attend!
Meeting Thursday night, October 5, 2000. As usual, the meeting will be held in the Belmar Firehouse, located one block east of Main St. in Belmar on 7th Ave. It starts at 8pm.
Our club is not the biggest on the coast, but we are a voracious bunch of fishermen! We've made a habit of winning and placing in many of the local tournaments even though we're one of the smaller clubs. There are about 12 of these tournaments per year and seven clubs fish each one...despite being greatly outnumbered for the most part, we kicking some butt! The club meets the second Thursday of each month at the firehouse in Belmar, on 7th. Ave. The meetings are organized yet informal, you're all welcome to come and sit in on one, maybe even join us. Being a small club has it's advantages. It's easy to get to know everyone in the club for one thing, I've made many good friends and met many equally obsessed fishing partners there. We have some guys that fish from boats, some party and charter boat captains even...some guys that just fish the beaches, some bridge fishermen, jetty fishermen, fly fishermen, live bait fishermen, and even a handful of clam soakers! No matter which type of fishing you do or are interested in doing, we got some of the best around who do it more than you'd care to know.....kinda obsessive this striper hunting can be. You can contact me by e-mail if you are interested in joining, attending, or just finding out more about the club. I will put a membership application here when I get the chance.
For now, I will use this page for club oriented news, reports, what have you. I'll put together some picture pages of some club members and events. Maybe even put the newsletter up here. That way, you can get a feel for the "crew" and see if these are the kind of guys that you might want to be fishing with. Boy, a couple more good fishermen and we'll likely blow the doors off the competition next year!
Club News
Updated 10/6/00
This spring tournament season has blessed us with an overall first place lead...and that's outta all the clubs we compete against! It's urgent that all who can participate in this fall's tournament schedule, it would be so sweet for our little (but rapidly growing) club to win 1st overall for the year! Attend tonight's meeting if you can for more details and a pep rally led by Greg Hueth ;-)
Some notes as sent to me by Dan:
Montauk trip was o.k. Pete Mitsuff, had largest bass at 23 lbs. From what I heard, Tom Cook was top Gun. (Congrats Tom, way to go!)
Great participation at Mark Heuth's Picnic weekend of Sept. 15th!
A number of guys are planning on going to the salmon river the weekend of the 6th.
That's it for now,
that's all the info I got, so try to get to the meeting tonight...and check the
tournament schedule from the link above and get out there and fish these
tournaments!
Sincerely,
Tim Surgent
