Marvellous example of Gothic architecture! It was built with the materials imported from the colonies of the Venetian Republic but during the Renaissance the building had been changed with the construction of the impressing "Giants' Stair", made by Antonio Rizzo or with the Lombardo's decorations. It resumes one thousand years of hystory in fact it was the center of the executive and legal power as the "Sala del Maggior Consiglio", "Sala del Senato" and the "Sala del Collegio" testify. It's possible to admire precious paintings by Tintoretto, Tiziano and Veronese and take a tour of the ancient prisons where Casanova "lived" for some years before escaping (it says he drank a cup of coffè at Floriàn Caffè before leaving Venice).

San Marco square- Venice

Built again "where and how it was" after its collapse in 1902 (this had been the will of the population of Venice).
Even the "Loggetta del Sansovino" was destroied and rebuilt in 1904.
Bell tower is an important occasion to admire Venice and the evocative view composed of little islands. We suggest to go up when the hours change, just in time to hear "well" the bells.

It's certainly the symbol of Venice, with more than two square kilometers of beautiful mosaics, it contains inestimable treasures as the "Pala d'Oro", masterpiece of Gothic-Byzantine goldsmith's art, precious glasses, amphoras, cups and the liturgical vestments. Recently it's been done the restoration of the marvellous multicoloured marbles inside the church.

San Marco square- Venice

This museums keeps the original copy of the bronze horses that one time was situated outside of the basilica of S.Marco and the "blanket" used to cover the Pala d'oro, made by Paolo Veneziano in the XIV century, during the working days.

Museo Correr is entirely dedicated to Venice, its political and military history as one of the seafaring Repubblic and its presence in every line of the art. Through the rooms of the Napoleonic Wing and those of Procuratie Nuove, it winds a street touching sculpture, navigation, trades of the past.

Once upon the time was considered one of the most sumptuous building of Venice for the beautiful colours of its facade bu soon Ca' D'oro lived an unlucky period becouse of the several restorations made during five centuries of history, until the moment that baron Giorgio Franchetti bought it at the end of XIX century to create an art gallery.
Inside it's possible to admire masterpieces by Mantegna, Diana and Carpaccio. Besides, there are many paintings of Flemish school and what remain of the decorations that once made beautiful the facades of the buildings near the Gran Canal.
Downstairs, in the backyard it's possible to admire the well by Bartolomeo Da Bon, a masterpiece of 1427 made with red marble of Verona.

It's the Center of history of the Fabric and Costume, offers several dresses and accessories of marvellous tailoring.
Wallking inside, don't lose the beautiful marbles that embellish this building where once used to celebrate the life the sublime english poet Lord Byron.

Venice Naval History Museum: during the Serenissima Republic, in the day of Sensa (Ascension) the cruising ship of Venetian Navy (il Bucintoro) escorted the Doge (head of Republic) in tha lagoon celebrating the rite of the wedding among the City and the Sea. Naval Historycal Museum, owns by Italian Navy, keeps a copy of this marvellous ship and some gondolas and many other treasures of the ancient seafaring Republics.

Natural History Museum of Venice: an unfailing path to understand the history of evolution, from the creation of the species to the appearance of the man.
The collection of fossils is embellished with the presence of an entire skeleton of dinosaur.

Opening hours: Temporary closed for repairs. Opening on 2004.

Archaeological Museum of Venice keeps an important collection of Greek and Roman sculpture including several Greek originals from the classic period that once gave importance to the collections of noble venetian families active in the antique dealer market of the colonies.

A worthy of visiting collection of oriental art (japanese, chinese, indonesian) owned by Enrico di Borbone who collected all this works travelling in the eastern countries.
The japanese section shines in particular way for the presence of blades.

Accademy of Venice is one of the most prestigious of Italy, keeping paintings of Venetian school since the Middle Age to masters of the Renaissance with masterpieces by Bellini, Tiziano, Giorgione, Tintoretto, Veronese... till the painters of the eighteenth century, Tiepolo, pastels by Rosalba Carriera and the inside scenes by Longhi.
Only Tuesday and for a small period of time (15-16 ; 16,30-17,30) Accademia gives the possibility to visit the deposits at the last floor of the monastery builded by Palladio.

Opening hours: Closed on 25 of December, first of January and first of May. Open from 9.00 to 19.00 ( Sunday and Monday it closes at 14.00).
