Sea Angling Guide
The Shannon Regional Fisheries Board coastal
boundaries extends from Hags Head on the Co Clare Coast, and includes all
of the Shannon Estuary to Limerick on the north side of the river, to Kerry head
on the south side of he river. See map The
region's scenic and rugged coastline offers exceptional shore angling.
There are 40 shore angling marks where excellent Ballan Wrasse can be taken as well as
Mackerel, Pollack, Dogfish, Bull Huss, Ling and Conger. There are many piers
along our coastline with miles of sandy beaches to tempt you. Good sign
posting to the popular angling marks, will assist locating fishing spots.

The Shannon Regional
Fisheries Board Welcomes You to Our New Competition and Club
Zone Sections.
What is
This is a promotional tool provided by the
Shannon Regional Fisheries Board to enable Operators, Clubs
and others who host and run competitions/festivals in our
region to access a range of utilities and become your own
administrator to promote your event. Through a series of interactive screens you
will be in control. You apply to the Board initially for
approval and following approval by us, you will be able to
gain access using your password to a wide range of utilities
such as Adding New Competition Information, Edit Existing
Competition Information, Enter the Results of a Competition,
Delete a Competition, Restore a Competition. Once your details
have been entered and saved the database will display all
existing Upcoming and Past competition listings which can also
be searched using various search criteria such as by County,
By Competition Prize money etc
Booking a venue
Operators who run events in our waters should
apply to the Board in the first instance to book a competition venue.
'Apply for a Competition Venue' utility in Competition Zone
enables you to do this very easily directly online.

What is
Similar to Competition Zone it is a special promotional tool provided by
the Shannon Regional Fisheries Board where fishing club personnel
and angling bodies can promote a club, a clubs events and
activities. Administration of club entries is undertaken by you
using a series of interactive screens and so it will be your
responsibility to ensure that your entries are kept up to date.
To become a registered user is easy - follow on
screen instructions. Once registered we will
review and approve your initial application and club entries within
48 hours (usually much faster) following your submission to
us. On approval we will then activate your basic entries
and your club
will automatically go live. Thereafter, you can login using your
selected password to avail of a range of tools which allow you to
administer info on such topics as club policies, competition
notices, club guidelines, general notices etc. We hope you find this service
