Sani Pass is one the 3rd highest road pass in South Africa and an
awesome challenge for any mountain biker.
In
summer, waterfalls cascade and tumble into the river below.
The green slopes that sweep upward to the base of towering
basalt cliffs are dotted with the colour of our great variety
of flowers and the roadside is lined with flowers.
It is this abundance of species and uses thereof that has
earned this area WORLD HERITAGE SITE status. In WINTER under a
cloudless sky, iced falls sparkle next to the hairpin bends,
and there is the ever-present promise of snow.
We start our ride up from Good Hope Stores (alt.1577m) and
travel the 18km's, all the way up to the summit (depending on
your fitness level). For less fit riders, join the backup team
and look forward to the ride down the following day.
Accommodation is at Sani Pass Chalets,
home to the highest Pub in Africa with superb 360-degree views
of the Drakensberg, Lesotho, and KwaZulu-Natal. For an
extended stay, we venture into the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho
by bike.
There are many optional adventure activities that can be
arranged. For a detailed quote and itinerary contact
us.
