Palm Springs City is a destination all by itself.
However the Palm Springs greater area actually is
composed of a number of major cities with their own
unique flavors, including: Palm Springs, Cathedral
City, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, Indian Wells, La
quinta, Coachella and Desert Hot Springs. Here's
a brief visit to these little gems.
Palm
Springs
The whole desert area is often referred to as “Palm
Springs,” but it’s actually a single
city — and the one that started tourism for
this whole desert valley area. Today, Palm Springs
the city has lots of history to call our own, from
the charming village atmosphere to the famous collection
of Mid-Century Modern architecture.
Long
been the popular getaway spot or home for many entertainment
stars (Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin,
Sammy Davis Jr., Elvis and Priscilla, and Bob Hope),
Palm springs continues this legacy with today's stars
rediscovering this same oasis. And "America's
Desert Playground" is also the playground of
the otherwise well-to-do and a host of other sun-lovers
from around the world. Our charming resort city always
welcomes all to our warm sands and relaxed, village
atmosphere. Rich in history and blessed with the
finest weather in the world, Palm Springs is the
ancestral home of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla
Indians.
Downtown is where the action is. Along the Palm
Canyon Drive are shops, galleries, and coffee houses.
Just down the street is the historic Plaza Theater,
the scene of many of Jack Benny radio broadcasts
as well as several Hollywood premieres. Today it
is the home of The Fabulous Palm Springs Follies,
which stars top entertainers and glamorous beauties
all between 59-85 years young! The mission-style
architecture throughout the village is a big part
of an ambiance that's sophisticated yet playful.
From a simple hike or a peaceful picnic by a stream
to an adventurous jeep excursion or horseback ride
deep into the canyons, this is a true oasis for the
nature lovers.
Desert
Hot Springs
Desert
Hot Springs is a beautiful and unique little city
of spas and resorts just minutes North of Palm Springs,
in the foothills of Joshua Tree National Park. Built
over one of the world’s finest natural hot
mineral water aquifers, Desert Hot Springs is also
proud of our pure and delicious award winning drinking
water, clean air, magnificent scenery, and easy access
to all the events and attractions in the other Desert
Resort Cities of the Coachella Valley.
Not surprisingly, spas rule in Desert Hot Springs.
Our hotels and spas offer an incredible variety of
massages and treatments to soothe and rejuvenate
visitors from all over the world. Among our other
attractions are the educational Hot Springs Park,
which offers visitors and locals the opportunity
to view the actual progression of groundwater
available to the community. Plus, hiking, golf, tennis,
shuffleboard, sunning, shopping, sightseeing, bicycle
riding, ballooning and horseback riding, and museums,
theaters, concerts and cultural events too! Enjoy!
Cathedral
City
Playtime
comes to mind when “Cat City” is discussed.
Movie theaters, amusement parts, miniature golf courses
and ball fields guarantee family-friendly fun. Big
kids can comb off-the-beaten-path consignment shops
during the day, and in the evening explore the nightlife — where
there’s something for everyone.
Rancho
Mirage
Where
else could you find a major intersection comprised
of Bob Hope Dr. and Frank Sinatra Dr.? It speaks
volumes about this star-studded town. The Betty Ford
Center isn’t the only celebrity draw in this
especially pretty place: Country clubs, resorts,
a glamorous casino and a new movie/restaurant complex,
with its own river, add to the allure.
Clean air, blue skies, crystal clear nights, 350
days of sunshine each year, resort living and superb
dining all contribute to the superior quality of
life in Rancho Mirage.
The community of Rancho Mirage is a national leader
in luxury residential developments and is home to
several world-class, award-winning destination resorts.
The city is noted for its fine restaurants, professional
services, financial institutions, and home furnishing
centers. In addition, Rancho Mirage offers five-star
health care at renowned medical facilities such as
Eisenhower Medical Center and the Betty Ford Center.
In the center of Southern California's rapidly
growing Coachella Valley, 11 miles from Palm Springs,
Rancho Mirage has easy access to the entire Southern
California market of over 20 million people via major
freeways, rail corridors and the Palm Springs International
Airport, which offers service to all major metropolitan
hub areas.

International Airport in the spectacularly beautiful
Coachella Valley. The tennis facilities and golf
courses of this meticulously manicured City play

from all over the world. The City boasts six championship
golf courses with 153 holes and is hope to the Bob

event. The internationally acclaimed and televised

La
Quinta
Once
upon a time, more than 50 years ago, there was Palm
Springs and there was Indio, and there was nothing
in between — except for one of the world’s
best resorts. This now thriving town took its name
from that still-operating elegant enclave. Today’s
visitors live happily every after shopping, dining
and playing the greatest golf in the world.
Indio
The
valley’s largest and oldest city still celebrates
its agricultural roots with festivals and fairs.
But nowadays country clubs and golf courses mingle
with date and orange groves. Indio’s sophistication
shines through at its Vegas-worthy casino and posh
polo fields.
Indio is also one of the largest gateways to Joshua
Tree National Park, where the Colorado and Mojave
Deserts come together to form some of the most unique
geological displays known to man.
Indio is located at the eastern end of the Coachella Valley, which is
composed of nine cities: Desert Hot Springs, Palm Springs, Cathedral
City, Rancho, Mirage, Palm Desert, Indian Wells, La Quinta, Palm Springs,
and Coachella. The total permanent population numbers 180,000, with a
seasonal rise to approximately 240,000.
Indio hosts a number of national sporting events, including the Skins
Game and the Indio Desert Circuit -- America's largest horse show --
plus world class polo .
