There are now over 300 wineries in Canada ranging from the internationally know Vincor wineries , Mission Hill, and Chateau de Charmes to the small farm fruit wineries of the Maritime's provinces.

Commercial Wineries:
A winery with a commercial license is permitted to bottle and sell wines made with an import licience.

Estate Winery:
A winery with vineyards of its own. At one time required to have 20 acres. Farm Gate Winery:
Previously given to wineries too small to qualify for the Estate License.

We have just returned from Ontario watch for the story of our visit to the wineries of the Niagara Area in the 2-3 weeks




The Pemberton Valley Vineyard & Inn situated on 7 acres in Pemberton British Columbia

The vineyard, planted in the Spring of 1997, is the first in the area, and is therefore "experimental".
The three varieties of grapes that have been planted to date, (Foch, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris),
were carefully selected to suit the climate of the region
