Computer Aided
Drafting (CAD)
Hawaii Marine provides a
full range of CAD services. This firm's computer generated drawings are made quicker
and more accurately than hand drawings. The company's plotter can generate up to E
size drawings while automatically switching between eight different pens. Each pen
may be different size and color.
The sample drawings included with this web site are described as follows:
Group #1 CAD Samples include a Vessel Profile Drawing, a drawing
of Machinery Foundation Details, and standard details regarding Raised Manhole Openings.
Group #2 CAD Samples include a Engine Control System Schematic, a
simple Lines Drawing and a Piece Details Drawing (that includes Shell Expansions). |

Computer Aided
Engineering (CAE)
Many CAE methods are
utilized by Hawaii Marine Company. Specifically the firm employs hull design,
stability, mathematical scratchpad, word processor, spreadsheet, database, and other
programs to provide its services.
The firm's hull design services are a good example of CAE. For instance the
hull software can easily generate a vessel's Lines Drawing. Furthermore this
software can mathematically fair these hull lines. Developable surface
characteristics can be incorporated into hull shapes. The hull software is also able
to do simple shell plate expansions and powering calculations. Attached are 3D wire-frames samples generated by this hull design software.
Hawaii Marine also employs several types of programs to do stability and structural
analysis. For instance spreadsheets are often utilized to quickly determine a Vessel's Operating Condition. For a specific operating
condition the programs can almost instantly generate a vessel's upright hydrostatics
properties. Additionally they calculate a vessel's trim and stability as well as
Cross Curve characteristics. Another program evaluates if a vessel's Curve of Statical Stability to see if it meets regulatory or
classification society requirements. |
