The Director of Central Intelligence (DCI) leads the Intelligence Community. He serves as the President’s principal advisor for intelligence matters related to national security. He is assisted by a Deputy DCI (DDCI) for general affairs, by the Deputy Director of Central Intelligence for Community Management (DDCI/CM) and by the National Intelligence Council (NIC).

Organization chart of the IC leadership, showing the DDCI, the DDCI/CM, and the NIC all reporting to the DCI, who in turns reports to the President and coordinates with the National Security Council.

"Mr. President, you will never find a more dedicated, hardworking, patriotic, decent group of Americans... Everyday, they perform their mission, selflessly and silently, so that their fellow Americans may continue to live in freedom and safety."

George J. Tenet, Director of Central Intelligence
