Orientation in Mexico City

Your adventure begins in historic Mexico City. Learn about Mexico's people and its dramatic past at the Zocalo as you visit the stunning cathedral and Palacio Nacional and gaze upon the evocative murals by Diego Rivera. Develop your Spanish language skills as you visit the Museum of Anthropology or sample authentic Mexican cuisine.

Homestay and Mayan Culture Adventure

Become part of the friendly, easygoing life of your Mexican family and community as you interact with locals, run errands in the marketplace, and meet your host family's friends. After your homestay, visit ancient Mayan ruins, explore the pyramids of Chichén Itzá and the ruins of Uxmal, and enjoy the beaches of Isla Mujeres.

Photo.Sample activities: Cook Mexican food with your host mother or father; shop at a local market for serapes and pottery; snorkel the blue waters off Isla Mujeres; travel the Puuc route to see the impressive ruins of Labna, Kabah, and Uxmal; climb the steep stone steps of Chichén Itzá; enjoy shopping in the Yucatan provincial capital, Mérida.

During your three-and-a-half-week homestay, contribute your time and talent to a rewarding community service project, giving back to the people who have been so generous to you. Then, cap your Mexican experience with a week of travel to Oaxaca and Puerto Escondido or Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara, where you relax on beautiful white sand beaches and explore tranquil villages and ancient cities.

Sample activities: Learn how to make piñatas; dance with your host brothers and sisters at a traditional dance workshop; swim in the tropical Pacific; enjoy mariachi and salsa bands; explore ancient ruins; visit traditional artisans; enjoy an afternoon of horseback riding.

Sample service projects: Work with disadvantaged children at a local shelter; teach English at a community center; distribute food and supplies to communities in need; repair a primary school.
