The Logistics Manager for the Department of State
The Office of Logistics Management (A/LM) is the logistics manager for the U.S. Department of State. The Department's domestic and foreign offices rely on A/LM to deliver a wide range of goods and services to sustain diplomatic readiness and operational capabilities.

A/LM was formed in May 1998 after an intensive logistics reengineering effort. Before A/LM's formation, logistics management responsibility was fragmented among several organizations and geographic regions. This resulted in substantial lack of management focus, duplication of effort, poor communications and ineffective use of logistics resources.

The creation of A/LM eliminated many organizational problems for the Department of State in that it consolidated numerous disparate functions under a single authority, responsible to the Assistant Secretary for Administration, to provide support domestically and to the diplomatic missions worldwide.

A/LM is headquartered in Washington, DC. Procurement field offices are located in Miami and Germany. Despatch agents are deployed in Belgium, New York, Baltimore, Miami, Brownsville and Seattle.

Mission: To support U. S. Diplomacy by providing efficient, economical, high quality logistics and services to customers worldwide, so they, in turn, can create a more secure, prosperous and democratic world for the benefit of the American people.

Vision:  Becoming the customers' partner of choice for reliable and innovative logistics and business management solutions for America's diplomacy.
