WASHINGTON, DC - On Tuesday, December 16, 2003, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) will open "Ishraqat, The Dawning of New Days: A photographic exhibit of Palestinian visions of hope." This new photo display will be located in the USAID Information Center in the Ronald Reagan Building. The exhibit begins with a glance at the breadth of USAID's programming and the visions of hope of those with whom we work - the Palestinian people. Reflected in the photographic essays is the balance between humanitarian and development assistance provided since the start of the Intifada in September 2000. Ishraqat focuses on the commitment of the United States to the vision of two states, Israel and Palestine, living side by side in peace and security.

The event is hosted by USAID Deputy Administrator Frederick W. Schieck and Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs, Patricia S. Harrison.
