Frequently Asked Questions

What is wireless?
Mercury Network wireless Internet service uses standards-based Wi-Fi technology to send high-speed Internet access through the air.

Is wireless available everywhere?
No. Wireless is available where we have a broadcast tower within a 15 mile proximity. Call us and we will tell you if wireless is available at your location. Wireless availability is estimated based on the distance of your location from our tower and is not guaranteed. Trees and hills between your location and the tower may interrupt the wireless signal. In the event that wireless cannot be provided after you order, we will refund all monies paid.

Who installs the wireless service?
Mercury Network technicians install the service. An antenna is mounted on your home to send and receive Internet signals from the tower. Ethernet cable connects the antenna to your computer, thereby connecting you to the Internet.

What does the antenna look like?
The antenna is a gray 15" x 15" square and mounts on a small, one-foot pole on the roof or sidewall of your building. It has been specially designed to blend in with building architecture.

Do you provide technical support for my wireless?
Yes. Technical Support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by calling, toll-free, 888-866-4638.

Do you provide repair for my wireless?
Yes. Repairs are performed 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM ET Monday through Friday.

Will I be assigned a new IP address each time I sign on?
Yes. IP addresses are dynamically assigned to residential wireless customers. If you require a static IP address, static IP addresses are included with our business wireless service and we can install business service at a residence.

What equipment do I need?
You need an Ethernet network card. The antenna and related equipment is provided as part of the service.

Can I talk on the phone and use wireless for Internet at the same time?
Yes, you can use your phone line for voice and utilize the Internet simultaneously when you have wireless. Wireless does not use a phone line for any reason.
