To help you find your way around the National Trust web site, we've put together a brief description and explanation of the significant features of a typical page from our site. Simply click on one of the numbered features, or scroll down, to see the associated description. Note in particular the navigation options you can use on each page.

1. Navigation menu: Click on this to reveal a list of sections on the main National Trust site, then click on the one you wish to go to.
2. National Trust logo: Click on this to go to the homepage of the main site.
3. Location line: This shows you where you are in the site. Click on an underlined word to go to that part of the site. On some pages (the section home pages) the location links appear at the bottom of the page (and the top line on these pages contains a scrolling message instead).
4. Watermark: The oak leaf watermark indicates that the image is copyright and may not be reproduced without permission.
5. Image credit: Click on any photograph to open a credit box containing a caption, credit and library reference number.
6. Page title
7. Related pages: Click on these to go to related pages on the Trust's site.

8. Links: Click on underlined words to move to pages referred to in the text or to download documents or files.
9. Section colours: The colour of the page indicates which section of the site you are currently in (in this example, 'helping us').

10. Frequently asked questions: Click on this to reveal a list of questions. Click on a question to see the answer.
11. Terms & Conditions: Click to read the web site terms and conditions and the Trust's privacy policy.
12. Search facility: Type in a word or words and click the 'search' button to look for pages containing the word(s). To specify more options for your search, choose Advanced search from the navigation menu (see 1 above).
13. Credits: Click to read the web site credits.
14. Visually impaired mode: Click on this button to toggle the viewing mode between normal and 'visually impaired', where the font size is increased and coloured backgrounds are removed.
