Historic Scotland
The Historic Scotland website provides information about Scotland's historic properties, ancient monuments and listed buildings. It also includes details of its education work with schools and colleges, resources for teachers and a selection of free publications available to download. (Links to online purchasing.)
Lichen Projects
This site from the British Lichen Society offers simple lichen projects based on churchyards, walls, trees and the seashore. The projects are suitable for young people and adults, and help the development of a scientific approach to exploring the natural world. They cover aspects of the science curriculum from Years 3 to 13. The projects are provided as downloadable Microsoft Word files.
show.me.uk
The show.me.uk web site, from the 24 Hour Museum, features on-line projects, games and activities produced by UK museums and galleries for children aged between 4 and 11. These resources are supported by news, competitions, links, ideas for fun things to do and tips for parents and teachers.

This section is designed to help you find particular types of resources, such as lesson plans, museum websites or government information.

Use the menu on the left to select the type of resource you are looking for. Many of the sections have further subcategories, to enable you to find resources on a specific topic or for a certain age group. For example, in the 'learning resources' section you can access sites organised by age group and then by subject. Within each section, the resources are listed in alphabetical order.

You can also use the search box (located at the top of the page) to find sites within a particular section, by typing in your search term(s) and clicking 'this category' under the search box, once you are in the section you want.

If you are looking for resources relevant to a particular region, use the 'Where are you?' button on the left-hand menu. To look for resources by user group, choose the 'Who are you?' button.
