SEO Services: Search Engine Optimization
If you're serious about your marketing efforts that you want invested in your site, then
Getting a "poor" listing, when you could have done "better" is sad, because getting a directory listing changed can be "near impossible". Getting it "right" the first time is extremely important.

Anyone can submit to DMOZ, it's FREE - but if don't do it right, you could be waiting "forever" to get listed.
"When submitting to any directory, be sure to keep your reviewer in mind and treat your submission with kid gloves. Always read the submission guidelines before submitting, and follow them closely. As with everything in life, being polite and following the rules will get you far. Being rude and arrogant will most likely result in unfavorable alteration of your description -- or a completely ignored submission. Reviewers can change the content of submissions at will, so think about your Web site as objectively as possible and prepare accordingly."

Many search engines (including Google) will give your site "extra points" if it is listed in DMOZ. The "better listed" the more "points" you get, and the more traffic you can get.
So how do you get in?
It's not easy. Many people submit over and over again, and they wait and wait, and still, their site does not get listed in DMOZ. We've run across many people whom have just given up on getting listed in DMOZ.
We're here to tell you that if your site has good unique content, there is a good chance we can get your site listed in DMOZ - or least we can try our best.
Anyone can submit to DMOZ, it's FREE - but if don't do it right, you could be waiting "forever" to get listed. If you do get listed, you're pretty much* there for "life" - so getting a "good" or "poor" listing can really effect your traffic long term. We can help you to give you better chances of having a "good" listing.
Yahoo currently charges $299 to review your site. If they don't accept your site, they're still keeping your $299. If they accept your site, you'll have to continue to pay $299* each year to stay listed. *current Yahoo terms, subject to change, and surely will.
Yahoo is currently going through changes. The last time that Yahoo changed, they "grandfathered" those who had signed up with them in the past. I'm recommending "getting in" now, before things change again, and it gets more expensive.
Yahoo helps your rankings in places like Google and Inktomi (Inktomi will soon be default Yahoo search, and soon to be MSN default search).
Like DMOZ, having a poor Yahoo description doesn't help you as much as having a nice description in a good relevant location within the directory.
Already listed, but poorly?
We've had some at changing a DMOZ and Yahoo listing, however it is rare. We can try for a change if your listing is "out of touch" with your current site.
Other Directories
Though DMOZ and Yahoo are the major directories now, there are thousands of lesser known directories. Getting listed in relevant directory listing helps your traffic in many ways. Putting your site in the "company" of other related sites gives the impression that your site is listed in "relevant neighborhoods", and can greatly help your traffic, and your rankings in the search engines.
Free Directories
We've researched thousands of directories (and narrowed that down to a few hundred "good" ones). We hand submit your site, one by one, into relevant and 'of value' directory locations. We then seek out industry related directories, and submit your site to those as well.
Paid Directories
We've also identified several directories that are of good value, and whom charge money to be listed (and are of good value -like Yahoo, Business.com Directory, and many others).
We'll recommend spending about $1000 per year for inclusions into Directories. (incudes Yahoo and Business.com plus many other paid, as well as free directories.
