Under Secretary Evelyn S. Lieberman to Speak On Thursday, November 16, 2000, Evelyn S. Lieberman, Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, will visit Benjamin Banneker Academic High School (800 Euclid Street, NW) in Washington D.C., from 1:25-2:20 p.m. Her visit is in celebration of International Education Week, which was proclaimed by President Clinton for November 13-17. Mrs. Lieberman will have an opportunity to speak with a U.S. government class on a variety of subjects to emphasize the importance of international education. These topics include possible careers in the Foreign Service, public diplomacy, and the challenges facing diplomats throughout the world today. There will be a question and answer session following her remarks. International Education Week provides a global forum for promoting and celebrating the benefits of international education. The week is a visible component of President Clinton's new International Education policy to prepare Americans for a global environment and to attract and educate future leaders from abroad to the United States.
